City of Lost Buildings In a time of relentless, restless beauty I command every spirit to come through me Down a winding path like a drunken abbot All alone with the curses you inhabit Blow a kiss to the souls in the express lane Going back through time to relieve their lost pain On the steering wheel you hold a kind hand And the signs read six more miles to dreamland Only have one key so I’ll just leave it on the steps It won’t be hard to find it City of lost buildings I’ve been looking for a light It won’t be hard to shine it Set adrift on an existential feeling Writing sad confessions on the ceiling All the secret plans and double dealing Turn me inside out, my senses reeling There’s nobody living in these streets The tallest buildings fall eventually Setting years of dust and shadows free Dandelions exploding in the breeze Setting years of dust and shadows free

Dark At Heart When I heard your voice I knew it was for real No more bouncing in between the poles of how I feel I could not safely say that you were fair and free So I had to steal your love and tie it tight to me No point in pretending We won’t be forgiven It’s too late not to start I’ve turned out to be dark at heart You were not alone, as you should have been Someone has to take the blame, the pain belongs to him Wholly unprepared and fabulously dressed A vagabond, a visitor, an uninvited guest When you call out it can’t be wrong I beg you to belong to me We stumble to the door Our hands are wanting more and more All of my desire, breaking out of jail When these sparks get in my eyes negotiation fails Being cold in life, or being hot in hell I don’t have much going on, I guess it’s just as well It’s not an accident We said what we meant to say May be a mistake But what choice could we ever make It’s too late not to start I’ve turned out to be dark at heart It’s too late not to start I’ve turned out to be dark at heart

Suddenly 04:39
Suddenly Notes that ring infinitely You can’t hear but they whisper to me Keep repeating tell me the truth Tell me the truth Children running skinning their knees Sunlight shining down through the trees Painting shadows over everything new Everything new Suddenly your heart skips beating Suddenly you’re all alone In a sea of shipwrecked drifters Suddenly you’re home Waves caress Andromeda glows Lights your way wherever you go Aimless carried on the whims of the tide Whims of the tide You can say it doesn’t matter at all I know better than to be called To the altar of insatiable pride Insatiable pride Suddenly your heart skips beating Suddenly you’re all alone In a sea of shipwrecked drifters Suddenly you’re home Let me trick your heart into beating again Suddenly your heart skips beating Suddenly you’re all alone In a crowd of missed connections Suddenly you’re home

Whispering 03:33
Whispering Whispering, you can’t quite make out Just what you heard, just what you heard Was that a breath or an invitation You're never sure, you're never sure Why can’t you speak up So I can hear you Why can’t you speak up? I want to hear you Raise your voice on high To the rafters of the night Drifting in and out of focus Invisible, invisible So insecure, we beg the comfort Of miracles, of miracles Why can’t you stand up So I can see you Why can’t you stand up? I want to see you Slip your shadow into Velvet waves of darkness Hastening, we rush to follow Like criminals, like criminals Whispering, we can’t quite swallow What we believe

Give It up 04:05
Give It Up Baby, I don’t know my name I don’t know my number Tell me how did I get here, how did we get under All this weight everything we know, everything we wonder Terrible poison in my veins can I get another You want an answer but you just can’t take it You want a reason but it passed right over your head Another player who got played while playing It happens, I’m just saying Give it up, give it up Give it up, give it up Follow, platform to the train, station to the station Dreaming, ghost in the machine, too much information How do we ever know what’s true, ever know what matters Our love, fragile as a glass, sings before it shatters You want an answer but you just can’t take it You want a reason but it passed right over your head Another player who got played while playing I think the universe is saying Give it up, give it up Give it up, give it up Let it go, let it go right over your head Stuck in the middle but you’re pushing it close to the edge You said a lot when you should’ve kept your mouth shut instead You want an answer but you just can’t take it You want a reason but it passed right over your head Another player who got played while playing Now listen everybody’s saying Give it up, give it up Give it up, give it up

The Sound of Getting Used I’m surprised you said you know me well Cuz I keep my guard up religiously Might not happen even one time in a day That you pass by and I’ve got anything to say Color me confused Must be the sound of getting used I try not to give too much away It’s like I’m saving myself for a rainy day And when it comes I’m gonna walk into that flood Laughing like a demon til I’m gone for good Sinking like a stone It’s not ideal but then at least I’ll be alone Wearing concrete shoes Must be the sound of getting used Giving off suspicious vibes Too many possible agendas to ascribe I’ll keep my cards close to the vest And leave a trail of lonely ripples for the rest Sometimes I wish that I could let it go But then I think about it more and say hell no A solitary kind of blues Must be the sound of getting used
